GERARD CARBO

Gerard Carbo was born in 1945 in Utrecht and attended the art academy there from 1963 to 1968. He has worked fulltime as an independent artist since 1970 with scores of expositions at art-markets and exhibitions; in art-galeries and museums. Gerard has sold work to, and accepted commissions from private individuals and corporations both here in the Netherlands and abroad. Even selling to royalty (HRH Princess Christina of the Netherlands). In 1992 he opened his own gallery - and open studio since 1995- with exhibition of his own work.

Gerard finds inspiration for his work in the Netherlands wide polder landscapes and its extensive coasts, wetlands and marshes-transposing these scenes in the opaque transparency of watercolours. Colours with their infinite hues and nuances are the ingredients that determine the work of the water-colourist Gerard Carbo. Expression of the present mood or atmosfhere into a work is more important than the subject matter or location itself. The season, the early or late morning, the evening's light; there is constant change of colouring. Sublety, the serene atmosfhere and mood images are Gerard's signature.

They are sufficient to allow the viewer to enjoy this same moment with the artist - a wonderment of nature and, in all modesty, of the artist's skills.
